Jan 1, 2015 · Conclusions. The inclusion of ≥50% cattle manure mixed with sheep bedding resulted in a more stable organic compost, with higher nutrient content and HA/FA ratio. Thus, our study has identified an efficient way to improve the quality of compost generated during the waste management of sheep bedding.
This compost was thus evaluated through field application to maize. The study also revealed that increasing the application rate of compost increased maize grain yields. Hence, cocoa pod husk, palm kernel cake and rock phosphate can be exploited for use as important resources for improving the fertilizer value of cattle manure.
